Star Wars - The Last Jedi (pillow fight!)

I could not not chose Leia as my first pillow to collect. It's some cute little thing!

I'm already collecting stickers for the second pillow. I'm going for Chewie or Darth Vader. Lets see if the Force is strong with me and I can collect one or two more pillows.

The Force is strong with this little Leia pillow.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi (attax is back!)

As I said in previous post, I get cards for my shopping. I get milk, fruit, water and cards of Star Wars. That's the galaxy I like to live in.

There are 3 cards per pack. I got some dups already. But also got some pretty gorgeous ones.

The Rey card on top is a photo from Eps 7 so I hope I get a card for the Eps 8 Rey.

We get old characters and other ones that are famous even if secondary.

Some of the cards are all shinny like the Finn one. The scanner cannot get it right but you get the idea. It's a Topps normal chrome card.

Old friends never die..

I know is not BB-8 but is like the dark counterpart of it.

Who makes the best 'I have a stomachache' face!?

The most famous brothers in the galaxy.

Poe is the best pilot in the house! He's ready to shot some TIEs. (And I don't know why my scanner decided to scan the fighter card in black-and-white but ok..)

Ohhhhhhh I don't know if the value of Defence should be so high..It has a single point of failure!

Biiiiiip Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip Bip Bip Bippppppp

And I end with these two beauties.

May the Force be with you.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi

The galaxy far far away that we all love is here again.

And one of our national shopping chain is giving cards when we buy there. In each pack we get 3 cards and 1 sticker. When we collect like 20 stickers we can trade them for one pillow!

I'm almost there!

You see. The pillows are different characters to collect! I'm still debating which one I want..damnnnn Want them all but this is only available until next month and I bet the pillows will fly like Tie-Fighters!

There are more merchandising to lose yourself into this universe.

May the Force be with you!

Houston! We have a World Series Title!

I know this pun might have been done already but mind you that there are like 8 timezones between us...

...The thing is that it doesn't matter because the Astros finally won a World Series! OMFG! I thought I'd never live enough to see that happening!

And because of that I'm posting scans of some of the Astros cards some fellow blog friends sent me. Because I go from being a Yankee to like underdogs like Astros (and D'Backs. I also like Reds but they have some history to talk about).

They might have eaten dirt and dust. But after all these years they finally got it!

They had more colourful and more unobtrusive uniforms. They dresses as blue and grey or dark red but it was in bright orange they won it!

A terrific team in pitching and fielding and batting and so much more. Congratulations my Houston Astos, for the first World Series title. You all deserved it.

(and that's why I didn't mind my Yankees losing to them...even if it hurts a bit...)

World Series LAD vs HOU

So my Yankees got into game 7 but then were silent by the almighty Houston Astros.

I'm not saying this because I don't like Dodgers, because I don't have any like or deslike for them lol But it's true that after Yankees I kinda like Astros and D-Backs. So I'm here for Houston.

And so I remembered to search my scans (the ones I have online in my cloud...because right now I don't know where half of my things are...) for some Dodgers and Astros cards.

And this is what I found from a couple of sets. I have more. But the WS has just began.

I count a pitcher for each team.

 Two batters.

One batter for Astros and an other one for Dodgers

 Some 3D LA for you.

But Houston has no problem and has an other 4 3D players for you.

And if we were counting it would be LA-8 against HOU-6.

50 Cities of the World #29 Madras

And since I still have to connect my scanner back after I moved in I'm going with the scans I already have.

And this brings us all here again, to one more City of the World. And I assure you I might know a city name but get the country wrong, but here I'm all in the dark.

I truly had to search Google in search of this almighty Madras place.

From the card back it looks like a State City of some sort...but from what state!?

And I can now tell you it's a city in India. And it's now named Chennai.

From it's wiki page I got this:

"The name Madras originated even before the British presence was established in India. The origin of the name is unclear; one suggestion of several is that it may have originated from a Portuguese phrase mãe de Deus, which means "mother of God", due to Portuguese influence on the port city, specifically referring to a Church of St. Mary"

But as stated in the same paragraph there's no sure the name was already used before European people arrived there and if so, maybe it has other origin.

India is a nice place to get lost if they are changing their cities names so often...

And like said in the card back it is known for the University, which is still known by the Madras name.

There is also a National Art Gallery. Looks interesting!

50 Cities of the World #28 Bombay

Lets get our bags ready and visit an other City of the World.

Today we go to Bombay.

And yes, that is a name no longer in use, since 1995 the city is known as Mumbai. Around here we call it both ways and we all get it. It's in India.

You can see a large street in the card picture with few people around. But I cannot picture India with so few people and so large streets.

Accordingly with Wikipedia Bombay "It is the most populous city in India with an estimated city population of 18.4 million".

So...can you picture that!?

Here in Portugal we go between 10/11 million people in the whole country!

This are numbers I cannot imagine...

The card back talks about where the city is located, to the SE end of the island giving the city a terrific spot to have a crowded harbour.

Accordingly with Wiki again, the city is like a group of "seven islands" and you know, if you get ships coming and going with trade business is only normal that the city "has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires among all cities in India". I bet all these millionaires and billionaires have their richness came from other businesses, but maybe the harbour was a great start to it. Including getting those trade lines with West Europe long time ago.

The Bombay city has such a rich history that I'd be here writing a huge post before I could talk about all things.

So I leave you with a link to a specific part of the city's history that are connected to Portugal: History of Bombay under Portuguese rule (1534–1661)

Topps 2016 - cards I like because yes - part V

I've been posting this series of posts without thinking 'ohhhh I got to keep the best for the last post!'. But after uploading the pictures I was like...damn! These are my favourite cards!

It's not that Trout is one of the players that I like or even pay that attention. I know he's like the Golden Boy or something like that.

But one can only say this. Yep, he's a very good player. Still young and with many years to play and give us moments like this one in the card.

Talking about stilling a Home Run!? Climb the fence!

Craig Kimbrel is one of the Pitchers I collect. He looks like he took a photoshop shower but that's TOPPS fault. And he looks great in all colours.

Horizontal cards are my favourite cards. You can get so much more in a landscape...

Like this Kipnis great card. Did he make the play?

I cannot quite read the other player's name but he looks like a Mariners player with that uniform.

Can I give Castro a nickname?

Beaver.

Look at those teeth.

And is that a Giant or an Oriole down there? Sliding to the 2B!?

And this is my third play at 2B of the post!

I sympathize with Hardy. Maybe because he goes as J.J.

And look how his movement is like ballet soft... The Blue Jay sliding is going for the knee but J.J. is effortlessly dodging him.

Ballet, I tell you!

And how not to end in such a perfect way that getting two more players I collect.

The handsome Catcher Lucroy who I only now discover is my age

And the cute pretty thing that is Sale who's now a Red Sox (blarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh).

And if there is something about Lucroy card (besides himself) because of the blue patterns all around that makes it even a more gorgeous card, Chris Sale card has such a pretty colour mix on the background that perfectly contrasts with his white and black strip uniform.

I truly think I was lucky with the cards I got.
